During 2005, David Hockney visited Painsthorpe Dale. Titled ‘Bugthorpe Valley’. This steep sided valley on the westward escarpment of the Yorkshire Wolds offers a fantastic walking area. If ever an area could be classed as Hockney Country then this would be it.

This location is not too far from the Robert Fuller art gallery at Fotherdale Farm. Also, Robert Crow the water colour artist lives in the village of Bugthorpe which is down the hill. He has an online gallery here
