The East Riding of Yorkshire Council gave the Yorkshire Wolds Heritage Railway project the planning approval for the development of a visitor centre near to the location of the old Fimber railway station.
Yorkshire Wolds Railway would like to reinstate a mile of track on the old railway route of the Driffield to Malton line.
The visitor centre plan has already attracted £40,000 of European funding which will be used towards the cost of the build of £80,000 which the Wolds Railway is well on the way to achieving.
Stage two of the project is to build a mile of railway in the direction of Wetwang which will allow visitors to ride on heritage railway rolling stock.
