HISTORIC “at risk” treasures have been saved across the Yorkshire Wolds after archaeological features were hailed “as important as Stonehenge”. English Heritage has taken almost 100 of the region’s scheduled monuments off its At Risk Register, including ancient burial grounds, settlements and medieval waymarkers.
The heritage body has described the Yorkshire Wolds as “an often overlooked landscape, as important as Stonehenge”.
