Award Winning Wines from the Wolds


Set on south-facing slopes at the foot of the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds, Ryedale Vineyards is not only the most northerly commercial vineyard in England, it’s also the largest.

Stuart and Elizabeth Smith planted at Westow, about seven miles from Malton, in 2006 and have been producing award-winning wines since 2009.

 A family-run business, the vineyards occupy two sites with a total of 10,000 vines in a wide range of grape varieties. Stuart said: “On our home site, at Fairfield Farm, we have 5,000 vines. The largest blocks here are Ortega for white wine and Rondo for rosé and red wines.
