Hockney Woldgate Tree Chainsawed

In September 2006 David Hockney started a painting called ‘Woldgate Tree’ which was part of the series ‘A Year in Yorkshire’. The tree on Woldgate has been effectively cut in two with all the branches cut down and left as brash in the hedgerow.

It is thought that contractors operating for National Grid reduced the amount of branches due to nearby electricity lines.
